Buenos Aires, March 18 (NA) – President Javier Milei stated on Wednesday that Argentina, assuming the presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), does so «with the unwavering conviction of defending historical truth, the memory of the victims, and the frontal fight against antisemitism and all forms of totalitarianism». In his message on social media X, Milei thanked U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio «for the accompaniment of the United States in this new challenge». «When the world tolerates hatred and criminal collectivism, barbarism advances. And when free nations raise their voices, civilization prevails. From Argentina, we are going to wage that cultural battle without fear and with moral clarity,» stated the head of state, confirmed the Argentine News Agency. And he closed: «Our commitment to the United States and the State of Israel is unwavering. LONG LIVE FREEDOM, DAMMIT!» Previously, Rubio had congratulated Argentina on the start of «its presidency of the IHRA». «We applaud President Milei's commitment to spreading the truth and honoring the survivors,» added the Donald Trump official. «At a time of growing distortion and denial of the Holocaust, the leadership of the IHRA is fundamental».
